I was a Norelco man for quite some time. My wife started me off on my first one maybe eight years ago. I used the first one for a while, it even still works, but subsequent ones just didn’t really seem to be as good as that first one. I decided to just get a cheap one to get by for maybe six months so I bought a Remington R845. I was very impressed by the brand. I didn’t use any of the optional lubrication sprays or anything on it and really no oil for the side burn trimmer because I never use that feature. That razor lasted me about 9 months before it recently started irritating my skin a little, so I went looking for a replacement and got this razor.

What’s the point of that story? Well, I haven’t had this one that long so it’s my best projection at how long this razor will last me. I’m actually a little more optimistic that because it’s washable the blades will stay cleaner and I can get a full year out of it. I should point out that this is obviously not a top of the line razor you’d get for a hundred dollars, but it’s no bottom rung either.

The only things that bother me a little are that it seems less powerful than the last one I had and it has some problems trimming the hair right under my nose. Remington seems to be really good about holding a battery charge so I’m not worried about that. My last one went weeks sometimes between charges. If you have sensitive skin, its got a handy little switch to make the blades not cut so close, which is a nice touch.

Considering I only paid about for the thing and how much money I’ll save not buying razor blades every few weeks or using shaving cream, not to mention the time savings, I’m a happy camper.

Do not buy this shaver. This is the worst shaver I have ever bought. One of the rotary blades dislodges every time I turn it on and then it no longer sits flat. This electric razor is the best!! Especially for men who don’t or can’t use a razor. I am a barber and was amazed how close it cut. Please not that the bulk of the hair on the face should be cut off with clippers such as the andis t-outlinder, styliner, or wahl liners, prior to using this tool or it will not work at it’s greatest potential. In some instances it may be necessary to pull the skin of the face taunt to get the closest shave. FYI.. this is the same electric razor as the 5 star shaver by wahl, (I called wahl to confirm) the only difference is the color of the housing.

before i bought this shaver i read the reviews and i saw that people were complaining that it doesnt cut hair at all, so i asked my barber about it and he told me that it only cuts stubble. If you have facial hair that you want to keep it wont cut it, the shaver will only cut the stubble growing around your facial hair style. this shaver also comes with a clipper on the back that you can line your self up. i didnt see anyone who wrote a review mention that so i was pleasently surprised.

The shaver actually performed just as I was informed it would. As an African-American male I needed a shaver that would give me a close shave, but not so close that it would cause irritation or ingrown hairs.

The closest and fastest and noisiest shave I have ever had. I was introduced to ANDIS products when I was in Barber College 47 years ago. Their hair clippers were always excellent ( I still have the one I bought in 1963) and when I saw they made a clipper with the Andis name on it I knew I had to have one. I have had several different brands over the years, but this is the one I like best so far. Never mind that it, like everything else anymore, is made in China. It seems nearly everyone has their product made there, but this seems to be a quality product. If it lasts as long as my Andis hair clippers, my great grandson can update this review. It does shave close and fast. It feels good in hand and wasn’t hard to get use too. The trimmer is the best I have ever used, cuts close and straight. I would buy again.

I’ve only had this razor for a couple of weeks but so far it has proven to be excellent. Shaves close and fast, and the battery holds a charge for a long time. The only downside is that if the battery runs down you cannot plug in the recharger and shave. You must wait until the battery recharges.

It would make a good shaver. – Wet Mars – Terra Incognita
I own an expensive (~0) PHILIPS shaver that I bought 15 years ago and that stopped holding a charge just a few months later after I purchased it, but I kept using it anyway by charging it every time I needed to shave. It takes about 30 minutes to shave with it though. The PHILIPS have refused to send me replacement parts, so 15 years years later, hoping the technology and quality has improved I purchased REMINGTON R7130 360 degree Pivot & Flex shaver for ~ which was the most expensive with all the necessary features that I needed.

Within the first minute of shaving with Remington R7130 one of the the rolling heads fell off and I managed to step on it and injure my foot.

Since I only used it for about 2 minutes I’m only going to post my experience with this brand new shaver.

PROS:

1. While it’s new it shaves fast.
2. The design is fine (the quality of the head is not).

CONS:

1. The individual shaving heads removable from the outside are an engineering blunder. If you shave with a circular motion the heads are going to come right off. When you open the head to clean it, it is quite flimsy and I had a tough time getting it screwed back into its track.

2. Poor build quality, flimsy, cheap plastic and metal parts. It looks and feels cheap. The headpiece seems to be made of thin low quality plastic, so I’m not sure how durable it is. I’m afraid it won’t last long and it’s very easy to break the head cover that opens, – one wrong move and you need a new shaver. If this is their top of the line model, I would not like to experience the less expensive ones.

3. Not a close shave; flexible head makes it hard to shave – the razor doesn’t glide very well over the skin. One head on my face at a time – it is not easy to get a straight line due to its three rotating shavers.

4. The plastic cover for the shaver head does not hold on the head.

5. There is no charger stand.

6. There is no case.

7. The only accessory is a brush.

8. Having had experience with shavers that were “Made in USSR”, it reminds me of one and even has some parts market with cyrillic letters.

How could it perform so poorly for me with all the positive reviews it’s gotten?

Conclusion: It would make a good, recyclable shaver. If it was a I would still keep it, but at ~ I’m returning it to the store. The only problem is, they don’t have anything else here apart from PHILIPS-NORELCO and REMINGTON and I don’t like linear shavers. I’d gladly give a try to a Japanese brand that has all parts made in Japan.

Falls Apart, Not Worth It – A N –
I purchased this shaver because it had a time remaining display, but as soon as I took it out of the box, it fell apart in my hands. I read several reviews before buying this shaver that the “heads pop off” and sure enough, they do. There isn’t a whole lot holding them in, and this appears to be a case of just poor design. After spending 10 minutes attempting to put my brand new razor back together, I asked myself why am I doing this, and I bought a Norelco. This is their top-of-the0line model, I hate to see their cheaper ones.
